My Vaccines Are up to Date for World Travel

January 15, 2022

my vaccinations for my journey around the world

I received my 2021/2022 flu shot and Covid booster which brings my 2022 vaccinations up to date. I don’t get the flu shot every year, but I do if I am planning an extended travel adventure. Amid this pandemic, you want to minimize the risk of getting sick specifically before you leave. A high fever or any symptoms with current Covid protocols in place you aren’t even getting on that plane even if it’s not Covid. This is one reason why I protect myself. The other, well I don’t want to be deathly ill while on vacation. Below is a list of my new and up to date vaccinations for my journey around the world. I strongly recommend going to a travel clinic before taking off. Feel free to add in the comments if you think I’m missing anything.

Boosted and on my way home!

My Travel Vaccines

Flu shot – New

No explanation needed as I covered this in the opening paragraph

Covid Vaccines 3 doses – New

Yessssss! Travel pass. QR code downloaded to my iPhone and ready to go. For those that that are curious my vaccination schedule is 1 dose of AstraZeneca and 2 Moderna.

Yellow Fever – New

Still a risk in places like Brazil and Southeast Asia. You get a vaccination card much like we have with Covid as border control will often ask for proof of vaccination if you have recently visited a country where yellow fever is prevalent.

Dukoral – New

Oral vaccine that is taken 2 weeks before I travel and lasts for 3-6 months and protects me from Cholera which can be fatal. Starts out as 2 doses then 1 booster dose every 3-6 months.  Better safe than sorry.

Twinrix

Protection from Hepatitis A and B. 3 doses for complete lifetime protection.

Typhoid

A bacteria that causes severe fever and intestinal irritation found in foods and water in underdeveloped countries.

Polio Booster

An oldie but a goodie. This one doesn’t need further explanation at this point.

Mumps/Measles/Rubela Boosters

These are important to keep up to date especially if you are traveling to underdeveloped countries.

Tetanus

Just in case I step on a rusty nail.

Additional prescriptions/medications I’m taking with me

Antibiotics, Advil, Imodium, insect repellent (will buy when I get there).

That’s it I’m good to go my vaccinations for my journey around the world are up to date.
