How Ancestry DNA is influencing my trip

Since I will soon be traveling the world I thought it would be fun to visit countries where my ancestors came from. I decided to invest the $129 with Ancestry DNA and see what my DNA looks like. The sending of the DNA and setting up the profile was pretty seamless. While waiting for my DNA results to come back this was the perfect time to start building out my family tree. How could Ancestry DNA influence my trip?

What Do I know Already about my DNA?

What did I already know about my background? My grandparents families on one side came over from Denmark and France but when I didn’t know. There is also supposed to be some Swedish, Irish and even Portuguese in there (this one I never believed).

What Have I Already Learned about my Background?

As I started building out my family tree I really didn’t think I would find much beyond my grandparents. I have gone back as far as my 11th great grandparents which is where I am currently at.

Josey, Migneron, Miron and Hansen

My Josey roots go as far back as Portugal in the 1600’s before taking the journey to Nova Scotia. I’ve been able to do the same and follow the path of the first Miron (My Moms side) which changed from “Migneron” in the 1700’s). There is some solid Denmark bloodlines in there on my Mothers side too. So to break it down heavy Danish, French with a little Portuguese, Spanish, Irish and some other DNA mixed in there. At least this is what I could find from my family tree digging but it’s going to be fun to see how the DNA comes back. As far as the Globe Digger name I am the first generation. Who knows maybe there will be some little Globe Diggers running around by the time I come back.

It would be amazing to connect with some relatives during my travels and you can bet that France, Denmark, Portugal and Spain are already on the list. What other countries will be added to the list? You’ll have to stay tuned to find out! It’s going to be a blast so make sure you follow my journey as I dig more into my bloodlines while I travel the world. I can’t wait to see how Ancestry DNA could influence my trip. You can check out my Ancestry profile here to see if we’re related!
