In 2022, I visited Barcelona, Spain, as part of my trip around the world. It’s a city I fell in love with. Personally, any city with a beautiful beach running through an iconic city like Barcelona is special. But it’s more than that. There is a Barcelona vibe that only those who have been there truly understand. The energy, vibrant nightlife, and Gothic architecture all contribute to a vibe that makes me not want to leave. Add in some of the best bars and cocktails in the world, and you have one of the top cities to visit anywhere. This is part of what makes a trip to Barcelona one you will never forget.
I fell in love with Barcelona so deeply that I decided to make it my first destination when I launched Globe Digger Group Tours. I can’t wait to share it with as many people as possible. Excitedly, I will have the chance to do this from July 13-20, 2026, when I take ten lucky travelers with me to Barcelona.
If you sign up for this tour, I will receive a commission, which is included in the total cost.

Globe Digger Partners with Tour Hero

Tour Hero is the driving force behind the tour, partnering with local guides to create an unforgettable experience. Honestly, I host and have fun with the group while Tour Hero takes care of the logistics. However, I did choose the itinerary, including all tour activities, meal plan and the hotel.

Who Is This Group Trip For
This Barcelona trip is for travelers seeking an unforgettable experience that differs from the typical resort vacation, but who prefer not to do it solo. You’re interested in off-the-beaten-path solo adventures, but for various reasons, haven’t taken the leap. This Barcelona trip will be the motivation you need to pursue your dream and travel differently with a group of like-minded travelers.
We all love discovering incredible places like Barcelona, but the Globe Digger group tour offers more than knocking off an itinerary. If connecting with people—whether fellow travelers or locals—is important to you, this tour is perfect. And it doesn’t stop there! On my tour, we’ll dive into local culture through authentic food, exploring traditions and customs, entertainment, nightlife, and local drinks.

In addition, the Barcelona itinerary will be exceptional, as we visit the city’s top sights. However, it’s the connections we make and experiences we have that make travel truly special and create memories that last a lifetime.
Why I’m Doing the Barcelona Group Trip
People often reach out to say they are traveling to Europe and want to experience it like I did. I create custom itineraries depending on the type of experience the traveler is after. Almost always, they want a unique travel experience that typical tour companies with pre-set itineraries don’t offer. They are looking for more off-the-beaten-path adventures while still visiting the top sights and relaxing on stunning beaches, creating a good balance.
Tour Hero allows me to create a customized itinerary to a destination of my choice, creating a travel experience that my audience is looking for. I’m intentionally keeping the group small to ensure an intimate solo travel vibe, even while travelling with others. This tour will resemble how I would explore Barcelona as a solo traveler. My goal for the Barcelona trip is to show people how travelling differently outside of their comfort zone with a group can change how they travel going forward. By the end of this tour, you will realize that travel is about more than just visiting sights and ticking off an itinerary. However, we all love those epic sites like Barcelona’s Sagrada Familia.
What’s Included in My Barcelona Trip
4 Star Hotel in Prime Location
This is especially important for those who follow my blog and social media. When I travel solo, I often stay in hostels, but I assure you this won’t be the case on this trip. For my Barcelona trip, we will be staying at a 4-star hotel in the bustling Eixample neighbourhood. The hotel is within walking distance of many of Barcelona’s top attractions, restaurants, and nightlife. A full hotel description can be found in the group tour link, which I will share in a bit.
Meals Are Included
Yes, meals are included, well, most of them. Breakfast is included every day, which is one of my favourite travel hacks for finding hotels that include breakfast. There will also be four dinners included, along with a few fun activities surrounding them. One dinner will feature live entertainment, while another will have you cooking the meal.
Local Transportation is Provided
Airport Shuttle
Transportation is provided from the airport to the hotel and then back to the airport at the end of the trip.
Transportation to Activities in Barcelona
Once we arrive in the city, transportation will be provided for all activities and tours organized by Tour Hero. Throughout the trip, there are a total of five activities included, along with a few optional tours.
Barcelona Trip Itinerary Highlights
Foodie Tours and Activities
On day two, we will take a Foodie City Walking Tour to explore local Spanish cuisine. It’s a fun way to experience the culture through food. Foodie tours also help you learn how to navigate local delicacies in a foreign country early on. You’ll know what to order with some familiarity when you’re not with the group. This is a chance to find your inner Anthony Bourdain.

The other food activity I’m excited about is a Paella cooking class. Paella is a traditional Spanish dish that combines seafood, rice, and a variety of delicious spices. It’s one of my favourite dishes I’ve had anywhere in the world. This will be a lot of fun, learning how to cook this iconic dish and then enjoying it with the group.
I discuss Paella and other Barcelona highlights in my blog, “Europe Trip Planner: 5 Epic Destinations in 3 Weeks.” If you’re interested in this trip, give it a read.
Guided Tour of Sagrada Familia
We will visit the iconic Sagrada Familia, designed by legendary architect Antoni Gaudí. Gaudí’s masterpieces can be seen throughout Barcelona, but Sagrada Familia was his most prized possession. Sagrada Familia combines Gothic and modern architecture, resembling a fairy tale castle from a Disney movie. There is no other building, let alone a church, like it anywhere in the world. We admire the church from the outside, and we will be lucky enough to see its interior as well, which I have never experienced before. I’ve been told it is even more stunning inside.

Side note: Sagrada Familia has been under construction for over 100 years, with completion expected in 2026. We may be among the first visitors to see the finished product. Antony Gaudí died 100 years ago; let that sink in.

We Will Visit Other Gaudí masterpieces in Barcelona
We will also visit other Gaudí sites, such as Casa Batlló and La Pedrera – Casa Milà. There will also be an optional visit to Park Güell if you’d like to see more of Gaudí’s work. I can’t stress enough how special it is to experience this legendary architect’s creations. I would never plan a trip to Barcelona without seeing Antoni Gaudí’s work.

Catamaran Day Trip to the Medes Islands
We will take a day trip to Costa Brava, where we will explore the Medes Islands and Roca Foradada. Costa Brava is at the heart of many exotic Mediterranean islands, including the Medes Islands that we plan to visit. Picturesque rock formations, epic panoramic views, coves, medieval villages, exotic beaches, and explore the crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean on a glass-bottom catamaran. We’ll see colourful corals, exotic fish, and even octopuses gliding through the waters. This is definitely bucket list material.

Downtime at Barceloneta Beach
Barcelona is one of a kind, with its stunning beaches that are easily accessible. Barceloneta Beach runs right through the city, so you can get there on foot, by bus, or by metro, creating an amazing vibe. There will be ample opportunity to spend a couple of days here. It’s also a fun place to visit at night, as it’s lively with activities like salsa nights on the beach. It doesn’t get any better than that.

Barcelona Trip Optional Tours
I am organizing this group tour so that, if people wish, they can have their own free time to explore the city. However, if they prefer not to plan at all, I have arranged some optional tours.
Speakeasy, Hidden Bars with Tapas and Cocktails Tour

This is my favourite optional tour, as Barcelona has some of the best cocktails and bars in the world. I will be taking a group looking for a fun night out in Barcelona with me. On this tour, we will uncover Barcelona’s hidden speakeasies and secret bars while sampling tapas, listening to stories, and enjoying amazing cocktails. It’s a great way to learn about Barcelona and Spanish culture. Also, most evenings are free if anyone from the group wants to go out and explore this vibrant, lively city at night.
Other optional tours include the FC Barcelona football stadium for sports nuts and Gaudi’s Park Güell, as I mentioned earlier.

However, I will also assist with that by sending some flight options via my affiliate partnership with Skyscanner once you confirm your booking. See you in Barcelona next summer.
